A little-known fact is this year Denmark removed their recent 2021 recommendation to vaccinate 2-6 year old children for influenza, citing low uptake. More info below👇 https://t.co/70AVNjXgVm https://t.co/PHHgpBVPdL https://t.co/Pqar56xj9t

COVID-19 vaccine boosters for young adults: a risk benefit assessment and ethical analysis of mandate policies at universities - 9 month(s) ago

In 2022, students at North American universities with third-dose COVID-19 vaccine mandates risk disenrolment if unvaccinated. To assess the appropriateness of booster mandates in this age group, we combine empirical risk-benefit assessment and ethical analysis. To prevent one COVID-19 hospitalisation over a 6-month period, we estimate that 31 207–42 836 young adults aged 18–29 years must receive a third mRNA vaccine. Booster mandates in young adults are expected to cause a net harm: per COVID-19 hospitalisation prevented, we anticipate at least 18.5 serious adverse events from mRNA vaccines, including 1.5–4.6 booster-associated myopericarditis cases in males (typically requiring hospitalisation). We also anticipate 1430–4626 cases of grade ≥3 reactogenicity interfering with daily activities (although typically not requiring hospitalisation). University booster mandates are unethical because they: (1) are not based on an updated (Omicron era) stratified risk-benefit assessment for this

No studies were randomized, yet over half drew causal conclusions. The level of evidence generated was low …

This is what happens when the @CDCgov 's "scientific" journal is filled with propaganda to support its own preferred policies and there is no formal inquiry to determine if anything CDC/the US govt said was wrong or right during the pandemic. https://t.co/hUIm0wNEwq https://t.co/5sTKNh9SMD

This is incredible & so sad to see👇. It's not just that multiple California counties are reinstating health care mask mandates, but Santa Clara Co will require children as young as 2 to mask while hospitalized🤦‍♀️ Who believes this is good "health care"? https://t.co/0Ftjru9lpo https://t.co/Y3UX5CpdhI

And this is important because: 1. The study was highly influential 2. Requiring children to wear masks has many downsides (as we recently published https://t.co/QjwXgARu7d) 3. The same problematic analyses may affect future public health decisions

I'm glad they brought up Urgency of Equity. I'm still not sure what that group was advocating for but perhaps something to do with the idea that masking children would help fight structural racism. Lol. I still can't believe this was printed in @NEJM 😂 https://t.co/d0OwABngDI https://t.co/vKNAQHKZ33
