Virtual endoscopic imaging of the left atrium (LA) was first proposed over 20 years ago and has since provided important information forin detecting anatomical structures during catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation1-3. Although the LA appendage includes pectinate muscle and a ridge is formed between the left pulmonary vein and the LA appendage, the LA does not have complex muscular bundles. The contrast agent is homogeneously distributed in the LA after passing through the lungs, making a three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction using computed tomography (CT) feasible.
