Mashup Score: 16Evolving mucocutaneous eruptions following chemotherapy - 2 year(s) ago
A 62-year-old male with follicular lymphoma presented with a 3-week history of worsening erythematous, coalescing papules and plaques with desquamative scale, and oral mucosa erosions starting 4 days after receiving rituximab, bendamustine, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, and allopurinol (Fig 1, A-C). There was no improvement after holding medications, oral prednisone, and topical steroids. Biopsy of the dorsal hand was performed (Fig 2). Within 2 weeks, the rash progressed to erythroderma with erosions and hemorrhagic crusting of mucosal sites and diffusely on the body (Fig 3, A-C).

Mashup Score: 18Reddish plaque and nodules on a child's cheek - 2 year(s) ago
A 14-year-old child, operated on; at the age of 5; for dacryocystitis secondary to a trauma of the right eye. He has since presented a recurrent periorbital erythema treated several times as eczema by topic corticosteroids without improvement. The evolution was marked, 9 years later, by the extension of the erythematous plaque to the cheek and nose, appearance of lupoid nodules and keratinization of the appendages of the eye with ectropion (Fig 1). Dermoscopy showed yellow-orange globules, white scales, branching and dot vessels, and white structureless areas (Fig 2).

Mashup Score: 0History and Utility of Specific IgE Cutoff Levels: What is the Relevance for Allergy Diagnosis? - 2 year(s) ago
Allergy is defined clinically, by symptoms on allergen exposure. A patient is considered sensitized when allergen-specific IgE (sIgE) antibody can be detected in serum or plasma or a skin test result is positive, even if no clinical reaction has been experienced. Sensitization should be regarded as a requisite and risk factor for allergy but is not synonymous with an allergy diagnosis. To provide a correct allergy diagnosis, test results regarding allergen-sIgE must always be considered in view of the patient’s case history and clinical observations.

Mashup Score: 2Epitope-Based IgE Assays and Their Role in Providing Diagnosis and Prognosis of Food Allergy - 2 year(s) ago
With advances in molecular and computational science, epitope-specific IgE antibody profiling has been developed and recently brought into clinical practice. Epitope-based testing detects IgE antibodies that directly bind to antigenic sites of an allergen, providing increased resolution specificity and fewer false-positive results for diagnosing food allergy. Epitope-binding profiles may also serve as prognostic markers of food allergy and help predict quantities of allergen that would provoke a reaction (ie, eliciting dose, possible severity of a reaction after allergen ingestion, and outcomes of treatment options such as oral immunotherapy [OIT]).

Mashup Score: 0Lymphocyte transformation test in the diagnosis of adult fish-induced enterocolitis syndrome - 2 year(s) ago
Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) is a non–IgE-mediated gastrointestinal food allergy.1 The diagnosis of FPIES is primarily based on the clinical history, although its gastrointestinal symptoms are shared with many other conditions, complicating its differential diagnosis. An oral food challenge is indicated when the diagnosis is unclear, or to determine tolerance, with a potential risk to the patient.2
