Mashup Score: 0A randomized controlled trial of a through-the-scope stiffening wire to increase the depth of insertion during double-balloon enteroscopy - 10 hour(s) ago
We investigated whether use of a stiffening wire increased insertion depth during double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE).

Fully covered self-expandable metal stents (FCSEMSs) are often used in the management of postsphincterotomy bleeding that is refractory to conventional endoscopic treatments. In this meta-analysis, we evaluated the efficacy and safety of FCSEMSs in the management of postsphincterotomy bleeding

Mashup Score: 3Abdominal sarcoma mimicking an ectopic pregnancy - 2 day(s) ago
A 37-year-old woman presented with a 5-month history of progressive abdominal discomfort, bulging in the hypogastric and mesogastric regions, and delayed menstrual bleeding. She did not report weight loss or other GI symptoms. Her serum β-human chorionic gonadotropin was elevated at 4.71 mIU/mL (normal range 0.02-0.8 mIU/mL). Transabdominal US showed a 52 mm × 50 mm × 56 mm mixed solid-cystic lesion in the hypogastric region without a fetal heartbeat. CT revealed a 59 mm × 51 mm thick-walled solid cystic lesion in the abdomen (A).

Zenker’s diverticulum (ZD) is the most common type of esophageal diverticulum. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the effectiveness and safety of endoscopic submucosal tunneling techniques (ESTTs) and flexible endoscopic septotomy (FES) for treating patients with ZD, including subgroup analyses by follow-up duration (<12 months and ≥12 months), diverticulum size (<2.5 cm and ≥2.5 cm), ESTT used (Zenker’s peroral endoscopic myotomy and peroral endoscopic septotomy), and publication format (full text and abstract).

EUS-guided transmural drainage with on-demand endoscopic necrosectomy (EN) is increasingly used to manage walled-off necrosis (WON). It has not been fully elucidated how EN and its timing are correlated with treatment outcomes compared with the drainage-based approach.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) are used for type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity, but safety concerns have been raised for users undergoing GI endoscopy because of retained food and aspiration events. We compared the risk of adverse events for GLP-1RA users and nonusers undergoing endoscopy.

Mashup Score: 25Clinical management of patients with colorectal intramucosal carcinoma compared to high-grade dysplasia and T1 colorectal cancer - 4 day(s) ago
In the colorectum, intramucosal carcinoma (IMC), like high-grade dysplasia (HGD), should be resected endoscopically. We were interested to understand how real-world treatment of IMC cases compares to management of HGD and T1 colorectal cancer (CRC).

EUS-guided hepaticogastrostomy is an established alternative technique for patients with malignant biliary obstruction when ERCP fails. However, stent misdeployment during EUS-guided hepaticogastrostomy is the most undesirable event. This report describes the case of a patient who underwent EUS-guided hepaticogastrostomy, during which the proximal end of a modified partially covered metal stent (10 mm × 10 cm; Hanarostent BPD, M.I. Tech, Pyeongtaek, South Korea) was deployed in the peritoneum. With the assistance of laparoscopy, the proximal end of the metal stent was observed in the peritoneum, with its distal end in the intrahepatic duct (A).

Mashup Score: 5Optimizing bowel preparation quality for colonoscopy: consensus recommendations by the US Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer - 4 day(s) ago
This document is an update to the 2014 recommendations for optimizing the adequacy of bowel cleansing for colonoscopy from the US Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer, which represents the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. The US Multi-Society Task Force developed consensus statements and key clinical concepts addressing important aspects of bowel preparation for colonoscopy. The majority of consensus statements focus on individuals at average risk for inadequate bowel preparation.
