Senescence in cancer

Colucci et al. review the defining features of senescence in cancer, its roles in tumor cells, the stroma, and the immune system, and its context-dependent effects as either tumor-promoting or tumor-suppressing mechanism. They also discuss current and emerging therapeutic strategies to induce or eliminate senescent cells in cancer and AI-driven approaches to detect and characterize them.
