Midbrain cholinergic neuronal activity promotes the proliferation of both oligodendrocyte precursor cells and diffuse midline glioma (DMG) cells in a circuit-dependent manner, mediated by muscarinic M1 and M3 receptors in DMG; in turn, DMG increases midbrain cholinergic neuronal activity.
