28-Year-Old Woman With Undifferentiated Spells
A 28-year-old woman presented to the neurology outpatient clinic reporting a 2-year history of spells that were initially occurring once weekly and lasting 15 to 30 minutes with no identifiable triggers. Symptoms experienced during the episodes included palpitations, lightheadedness, hyperhidrosis, irritability, generalized weakness, dissociation, and difficulty understanding and speaking. Abnormal motor activity was not reported. The spells initially resolved with food intake; however, this became less consistent over time.
